The War on Cancer


Clarence Cook Little headed the American Society for Cancer Control in 1929 and the American Cancer Society in 1944. The pipe-smoking geneticist became founding director of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Tobacco Industry Research Council in 1954, a group that dispensed millions of dollars to leading university researchers for four decades.
